Congregational Care & Health
Caring For Others...Congregational Care that Extends far beyond the walls of our Church...
Caring for Others and reaching out to those in need is at the heart of our walk with Christ. If you or someone you know is in need, please don't hesitate to let one of the pastors or someone in the Church Office know.
Prayer
We have a very active prayer life at Lenexa UMC. Prayer happens in so many forms. One way is through a confidential prayer chain ministry that lets those in need quickly receive support and prayers. Prayer happens in countless other ways...during Sunday School classes, small groups and Bible studies, over meals, during personal and family devotional time, during staff meetings and more. On Sundays, you'll find an updated prayer list in the bulletin. Prayer requests can be made by contacting one of the pastors or the church office at 913-888-5600. You can also submit a prayer online.
ChristCare Small Groups
ChristCare is a program of on-going small groups, each led by a person with special training, for the purpose of helping one another grow spiritually. There are currently several groups that meet regularly; all are open to new members and each group takes on its own format to meet the needs of its group. Each also focuses on a way it can provide outreach to others in some form of mission work. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministry is a lay ministry providing confidential one-on-one Christian care-giving to persons in our church and community who are in situations where having someone to talk to can really brighten the day. Stephen Ministers receive special (and on-going) training for this confidential ministry. To learn more, contact one of the pastors at 913-888-5600. You can also visit www.stephenministry.com.
Annual Community Health Fair
Every spring Lenexa UMC hosts a Community Health Fair through "Own Your Health Now". The event is open to the public and offers many free screenings, health education and a variety of low-cost labs. See www.ownyourhealthnow.org for more details, including ways you can volunteer to help! Enjoy the following pictures from the 2011 Fair!

Faithfully Fit Forever
Staying fit is vital to all of us – no matter how young or old we are. Faithfully Fit Forever classes are geared for all levels of fitness and for all ages, and include intermediate, low impact aerobics, strengthening exercises, health tips, and devotions. Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 – 7pm (usually in Schneeberger Hall). Call the church office to register and for more details: 913-888-5600.
Yoga Xoga
"Yoga Xoga" is led by registered Yoga Teacher Heidi Valenzuela. It is called "Demystified Yoga" because it leaves out traditional aspects of yoga such as Sanskrit chanting mystical images. All fitness levels are welcome and no pre-registration is required. Classes meet Thursdays at 7:15pm (typically in Schneeberger Hall) and are open to anyone. New students: Buy 1 class, get 1 free; a punch card is also available to purchase. Contact Heidi at 913-345-82069 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Blood Drives
The Health Ministry team hosts community blood drives several time a year in cooperation with the Community Blood Center in Kansas City. Check www.savealifenow.org for upcoming drives and to sign up to donate.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
We have an active group of knitters and crocheters who gather every Tuesday at 10am in the Library to make prayer shawls. Newcomers are always welcome. Shawls give those in need a gentle "hug" and reminder of Christ's love. Anyone is welcome to make shawls - even if you can't make it to the group. They are blessed by a pastor before given away. We also make hats and baby booties. Patterns and some materials are available at the Church; yarn donations are appreciated!
