Our Purpose
Lenexa United Methodist Church exists to create an enthusiastic Christian community formed in the faith and transformed into dynamic servants of Jesus.
Our Heritage
Located in Old Town Lenexa, ours is an historic church dating back to 1869 when a group of 5 women formed a Methodist class. This class was an “accountability group” that held each other to “methods” of holiness (Bible study, prayer, fasting and service among others). Those first meetings were held in a schoolhouse 1/2-mile south of town. The first church building was erected in 1878 where the present building now stands. The red brick structure, which houses the sanctuary, was completed in 1925. Since then, Lenexa has grown from a small farming town to become part of suburban Kansas City, and our church has grown to accommodate the ever-growing community and congregation.
Our Hope
We hope that you will find Lenexa United Methodist Church to be a warm, supportive community in which to worship God and strengthen your faith. We proclaim the “good news” of new life in Jesus Christ, and we invite all persons to join us in sharing God’s love with others.
