Disaster Relief

Kansas Area Disaster Fund — Collections continue to assist those in Kansas affected by recent floods and tornados. The Kansas Area Disaster Fund assists with humanitarian relief in Greensburg and other areas in Kansas. The Bishop has also created a new fund, “Rebuilding Kansas Churches”, to assist congregations whose buildings were damaged or destroyed. To donate, make your check payable to Lenexa UMC and put “Kansas Area Disaster Fund” or “Rebuilding Kansas Churches” on the memo line. Hand outs with more information are on the table outside the sanctuary. News and information about the relief efforts can be found on the Kansas East Conference website.

UMCOR and Hurricane Relief — You can donate to hurricane and disaster relief efforts through UMCOR — United Methodist Committee on Relief. When you give to the United Methodist Committee on Relief 100% of your donation goes to disaster relief. UMCOR's administrative costs come from other sources.

There is always a need for both health kits and flood buckets. These collections of everyday items help families recover during the early days after a major disaster. The health kits contain items such as a toothbrush, wash cloth, and soap. The flood buckets contain items like gloves, household cleaners, and bleach to help people clean their homes to make them livable again. If you want your donation to go specifically for health kits, designate advance #901440.
