Sante Fe Road Closure — The Santa Fe Trail Drive and Pflumm Road intersection is closed for construction. This began the first of three phases for the major road reconstruction project to improve Santa Fe Trail Drive from Noland Road to Park Street. Detour signs will be posted to direct traffic around the construction. This phase of the project is expected to last approximately 30 days, weather permitting. The entire project is expected to be completed late this year. As an alternative from the south, use Noland Road.
PEANUTS Greensburg Journal 2008 — Thank you one and all for supporting LUMYouth Ministries, and for making our PEANUTS Mission trip to Greensburg possible. Great things are happening at LUMC! You can read about the trip in the PEANUTS Greensburg Journal and see photos of the week here.
Create With Spirit — This art/craft group and Bible study began in June,2008 and has had a great response! In August, the group will meet August 19, from 7 to 8:30pm in August (in the Wesley Room), and in September we will begin meeting the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays (same time and place). This group is geared for women and teen girls. We do an interactive Bible Study while working on a favorite personal craft project (knitting, rug-making, and scrap booking have been favorite projects so far!), or help to make felted and beaded Chrismon ornaments for the church’s Christmas tree. This could be a great place to make prayer shawls, knit baby hats for hospitals, help make banners for the Sanctuary, etc. Linda Stoker facilitates this group. Contact Linda with questions — 913-888-5600 or Email Linda Stoker.
New Recycling Bin! — The church has a new recycling bin on the southwest corner of our property!! Please bring your paper often…keep it filled!!! This is a great (and easy) opportunity for the church to do some fundraising, while also being responsible for caring for all of God’s creation through our continued recycling efforts! Ask your neighbors to bring their recyclable papers too!!
New Member Sponsors And Front Porch Callers Needed — If you would like to help with these 2 vital ministries, contact Pastor Lane ASAP at lane.bailey@lenexaumc.org or 913-888-5600.
Stephen Ministry Training — There is an opportunity for those interested in training to be a Stephen Minister to do so this fall. Old Mission UMC is offering a class which will take place on Monday nights, starting September 8 and continuing through December. Please contact Pam Mettner at 913-888-8969 email Pam or contact Lane Bailey in the church office.
Take the 21-Day Challenge!
"You have not lived today until...
you have done
something for someone who cannot pay you back."
These words were written by John Bunyan in 1678, but still ring true today! Please take the 21-day challenge with the other members of LUMC, as they perform acts of kindness each day for the next 21 days. If you have not recieved a bracelet, please contact Suzette at the church office. Also, we'd love to hear from you — send us your thoughts, suggestions or creative ideas to livetoday (at) lenexaumc.org
